taste seems more scarce these days, and increasingly differentiating in the age of AI where so much of skills-based productivity is offloaded to compute.

makes me think about the development of taste, and how we nurture taste for the next gen of humans.

I can’t tell what the frame of reference is here (I’m guessing UX or creativity-related occupations?), so as far as this broad generalization goes, I have to disagree. In at least my and my clients’ line of work, skills matter, taste doesn’t (beyond dressing properly for the job).

So no one ever said “the pilot landed the plane so tastefully”?

Strangely enough, it’s indeed not a phrase I’ve ever heard. It’s usually:

☑️ bad — landing is all over the news
☑️ good — everybody walked away
☑️ great — everybody walked away AND we get to reuse the plane
