Iโ€™ve been working hard on improving my credit score the past few years. I started by paying off all my debt. I paid both of our vehicles off early and have been using that extra $$ to pay down my mortgage. My house should be paid off next year. I used to think having great credit didnt matter much but the offers i get now are considerably better (lower interest rates, etc)

Isnโ€™t part of it having some debt and paying reliably? If you have no debt I think it counts against you ..?

Yes, paying reliably is the big key. I use my credit cards to pay bills and pay most of them off each month. The funny thing is, if I pay too much off and donโ€™t leave a certain % my score usually goes down about lot, about 20 points. Itโ€™s stupid really. I would rather just keep them at 0 balance.
