this is similar to how my dad taught my brother and I to test the electric cow fence.  the “touch it, find out” method.  who knew his methods had royal roots.

I’ll never forget in physics class when i volunteered to be the guinea pig to hold one side of a (I think it was some sort of capacitor but can’t remember) and touch the other side and shocked myself almost unconscious.

Physics teachers were brutal but I loved that day.
