interesting. short videos (<1min) are 57% of videos uploaded to YouTube but only 14% of watch time. people love depth! you got a favorite long video creator?

Surprising that they’re actually 14% honestly that’s prettt high.  It’s easy to let a one hour video play all the way through in the background.

i believe this is a greater function of the ui than people's preferences. if youtube wanted to increase the watch time of short videos, they absolutely could. that said, they are the #1 home for long-form videos just because they got their start there. if you are looking for a long video, it's probably only on youtube, or at least it's easiest to find there; this also is obviously pushing the watch time up on longer form videos there.
