decentralization is not an evergreen goal. rather like keeping your rifle in good working order, even during peacetime. people call you paranoid. an idealist. impractical. wasteful. a relic, a cowboy. "people don't want this," they decry. and true! they don't. but that's because they can't see the necessity of it. like teaching children math or civics or ideas that don't help them fetch water. they don't know what it's for. how it protects them, us, from sophistry-at-scale and the /idea/ of an enemy, of other. centralized social systems - especially in the age of glibly persuasive AI - offer only truthiness and convincing perfidy. no credible standard; no perspective except what is permitted. only slopaganda. we have the technology to make it better. but not the will.
