Possibly the dumbest economic policy decision in the history of the planet. These are taxes. ON EVERYTHING. If you want to increase domestic manufacturing (if anyone wants those jobs) you wouldn't tax the raw materials and parts that go into production. You need something as inputs to production. We've just been priced out of manufacturing anything.

Great take. But this 'consumption tax' idea is what Thiel has been talking for a recent years.

Consumption tax would be a sales tax. This is more of a production tax.
