Why are actions outcomes causation and value the four Types you consider? Interested to know the steps that led to that split

v gd qn — there are many ways to subdivide the domain of [things not known]. i use actions/outcomes/causation/value because a lot of our existing ways of thinking about partial knowledge are risk-based. wrote about it here: https://vaughntan.org/how-to-think-more-clearly-about-risk (unpacked more in next few casts)

in risk, all possible actions, outcomes, and action-outcome probabilities are known. using the actions/outcomes/causation framework lets these other forms of not-knowing be directly tied to existing ways of thinking about risk and acting on it. (continued...)

and i added values because that is a clear gap in thinking about partial knowledge that has direct impact on making decisions in partial knowledge situations — explicitly thinking about value not-knowing changes how decisions are made. unpacked it more here: https://vaughntan.org/not-knowing-about-value
