Everyone wants a permissionless system until someone does something you don’t like.

This cast hits the nail on the head. 

I'm all for anyone launching tokens, including the President. 

The dominant theme on my timeline seems to be excitement when price goes up and despair when price goes down. 

If you truly want permissionless systems, this is all part of the game.

The criticism is not about the permission less system. It's about the President.

That's fair. 

I've seen many people critiquing the fact that he launched a token, how he set up the distribution, etc.

My point is that he should be able to do this just like the rest of us, and the market will determine how they feel about it.

Some will let this decision negatively affect them and taint their perception of crypto, others (like me) will laugh along and move on.

I don’t think everything needs to be such a big deal - even if social media makes us feel like it should be.

No. I'm saying that when you get the freedom to do something, you are judged and criticized on how you use it.
