As I'm trying to optimize WDIM feeds, I realized something: people follow accounts that they don't like, in the sense that they are not interested in what these accounts say, and they'd rather not have them in their feed.

I've done it too. Someone I followed 2 years ago, because they left a kind comment, or because they were working on something that seemed interesting, or said something smart. And now I go to their profile and I'm like "I don't want these posts to occupy valuable space in my feed, why do I follow them".

I've also been on the receiving end of this. Over the many years I've been online, my interests, my passions and how I use social networks have changed multiple times, so I'm probably not very relevant to people who followed me years ago.
