It's the worst feeling when your AI assisted tooling suddenly gets stupid and you can't tell why. Has happened to me in the past with new models, editor updates, and config changes. When this happens, what do you do to debug?

(I think a lot of this is just "know your tools" and "nothing is magic")

I start new chats frequently. Especially if it's getting dumb. 

I switch models if one just won't give a good answer. I currently switch between Claude 4 and gpt-4.1. 

I narrow the scope of the prompt if all else fails.
