Something clicked today: I've overheard @jarradhope say something like this during all-hands "I don't want to discuss this with you until you read what I've read/told you to read" (I don't remember precisely. )

And I did not entirely understand why.

Today I showed the Farewell to Westphalia to my neighbour and he was very dismissive of the idea that nation states might be dying and obsolete tech. And it was very hard to have a conversation about whether or not it is true, because he lacked all the context.

Hence the conversation was not about whether the arguments made in the book are correct or not and whether there is a better governance possible, but about me trying to convince him to at least consider the possibility of the current system not being ok.
