Almost 4 now, and yes that happens too. Afterwards nothing else seems to be good enough. I'm finding that leaving him to his tantrum (as long as he's doing it safely ofc) works best and after a few minutes he's more willing to compromise

Not only it happens but he also fixates about the above think he can’t get! How old is your one?
