Oxford Dictionary says: 
the temperature or state of something that is so hot that it emits white light.
or:
a state of intense passion or activity.
"she had written the letter in a white heat of indignation"
Fits both as opposing cold logic

I don't know if there was an explicit reference to "White Heat" in any of the essays, but my memory might be letting me down there as I did read it more than 10 years ago! I can't see an references in my notes. "White Heat" always makes me think of the Velvet Underground :) Same era.
