When I think of Ukraine, I see memories and feelings, not just a place 💙💛
It’s the gold of wheat fields and the blue of the sky.
It’s varenyky with potatoes and golden onions fried in unrefined sunflower oil — just like my dad used to make them (yes, my dad was a great cook!)
It’s a language that sings. It’s my eastern dialect — warm and unique.
It’s the people — open, sincere, with that unmistakable Donbas humor and sharp self-irony 😄. We can walk up to a stranger and be laughing together a minute later.
I am Ukrainian, and I’m proud of it! I was born in Luhansk region. My roots are from both Zhytomyr and Luhansk. And I’ve chosen Ukraine twice:
— when Luhansk was occupied,
— and when Sviatohirsk was taken (thankfully, it has been liberated now).
To me, Ukraine is my home. My fortress.
I’ve never wanted to live anywhere else.
Because someone has to stay.
And I’m here 🇺🇦
