Dogecoin has turned 11 years old.
On December 6, 2013, programmers Billy Marcus and Jackson Palmer created an open-source coin called Dogecoin, based on the mechanism of Litecoin and Bitcoin.
The purpose of creating Doge is to mock Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies whose usefulness for practical applications is often exaggerated.
Despite its satirical nature, this meme-coin is actively growing and is even being actively adopted into the online payments industry. Ilon Musk, Dogecoin's most famous proponent, has stated that the coin will be accepted for payment at Tesla, Starlink, Starship, and SolarRoof.
Doge is currently trading at $0.44885, up over 160% in the past month.
