2/2 With proximity, something different emerges: shared direction, safety, and genuine co-responsibility. Even in async and remote settings—when one deliberately cultivates it.
Distance creates resistance. Proximity creates effectiveness.
Leadership that takes relationships seriously is more demanding than an email with instructions. But it is the only kind that truly holds up in complex systems. Toward ourselves (we ourselves are already a complex system), as well as toward everyone else.
