1/2 Proximity provides guidance.
Leadership is not an exercise in hierarchy. It is everywhere, and it is relationship work - toward oneself, in a partnership, toward teams.
This “proximity” can arise through a vision and/or understanding. The vision (the idea of the future) is a strong multiplier; the relationship work is more of a 1:1.
Without inner proximity, one remains reactive and controlling. Without relational proximity, every directive becomes top-down coercion.
Problems stay hidden, responsibility is handed off, systems become dumber.
