I acquired both English and Gujarati growing up in Englqnd, but barely uttered the latter for another 25 years until I moved to India
Somehow it all came back, bar a few grammatical faux pas
That's how I'm certain that I acquired Gujarati
On the other hand, languages I've learnt like Spanish, French, or Arabic need constant nurturing and currently only Spanish is just about holding up
