Gothenburg is a city in southwestern Sweden in the Västra-Götaland region. It is the second most populous city in Sweden after Stockholm and the largest by area. The area of the city is about 450 km². It is located on the shore of the Kattegat Strait at the mouth of the Göta-Elv River.
