Eyes on Tour de France 🇫🇷 Stage 09 live…
Today’s stage looks very different from what was originally planned, as the organisers shortened the route after three consecutive days of red weather warnings due to extreme heat.
That should make the race safer… but it also makes forming the breakaway much harder, even though this still feels like a perfect day for it.
So far, Lidl–Trek is keeping the race under control until the intermediate sprint, where Mads Pedersen clearly has his sights set on the points.
Once they’re through that line, I expect the race to open up. Several riders will likely use the sprint as a launchpad for the breakaway. Quinn Simmons looks like a great fit for a stage like this, also Vacek, and MVdP has already hinted that he wants to give it a go today.
Feels like the real race is about to begin with the first sprint
