Starting to watch Shogun. Very well made. Prestige TV is a perfected art. Feels a bit too clinical though. And the sudden bursts into gore are kinda harsh. I don’t know that I want to continue watching.

Shogun Japan is apparently long periods of elaborate and boring protocols with short bursts of extreme life/death drama. It’s basically a blockchain society.

So an English pilot of a Dutch ship and a Spanish pilot of a Portuguese ship… plot device to center the story on English dude or realistic? Why nor a straight-up Dutch hero?
