I used to regard automated tests and advanced CI/CD tooling as non-essential or nice-to-have features in a codebase (and oh so boring to implement), but as I increasingly rely on AI tools and full agentic software engineers in my daily flow, testing and deploying have started to become the biggest bottlenecks holding me back from iterating faster.

Somewhat counterintuitively, an AI that can be trusted with testing software end-to-end and writing automated test suites — usually the domain of interns and junior engineers — has to be a much more advanced tool than standard coding AIs, with rock solid logical reasoning faculties, a keen eye for detail, and a much lower general error rate than what we’ve all come to expect from the Claudes and Groks of the world.

Great to see that your world view is starting to heal. Tests are essential if you want to keep going fast.
