Aside: evolution is remarkable: The Swiss-cheese plant (below) evolved windowed leaves ("fenestrations") that channel sunlight to its normally shaded lower leaves. Result is more a smoother curve of carbon production.

I know this because we got one a few months ago for the office and I asked ChatGPT why the plant had holes in the leaves.
