We're planning to move forward with rebranding the Warpcast mobile and web app to Farcaster.

1. Nothing is changing any time soon. We will take our time with this and have plenty of communication about it across multiple channels. The earliest the change will happen is mid-May, but a decent chance it happens in June.

2. We're going to work on a plan over the next 2 weeks and should have a plan by the next developer call on May 8, 2025. We will discuss on the call.

3. For developers: we're planning to open source the client monorepo— i.e. the mobile and web apps. Again, no timeline on this yet.

Warpcast is being rebranded to Farcaster 

1. Mobile app will be called Farcaster 
2. The Arch logo will return
3. Website will move from warpcast.com to farcaster.xyz.
4. All links will be backwards compatible. No action needed. 

Will roll out this week or next, depending on app store reviews.

1. Some users may be logged out on web 
2. Some things may be a little glitchy on launch day, but should stabilize quickly.

The original cast was 17 days ago, and called out that mid-May is the timeline :)

While I think this move makes sense, how would you incentivize developers building alternative clients?

@woj.eth created a fantastic client /super and you scooped it up (hiring Woj), essentially killing the competition

Currently, we have /recaster with hardly any users and /fiids, which I love and hope it continues existing

Remember how you started Farcaster and don’t turn into Facebook, eliminating competition on your way to the top

This is a good change imo and I know that you guys have been deliberating it for quite a while. I have seen the confusion before candidly from people, both on X and in person.

Time to claim that .com then as well. AFAIK xyz domains are lower ranked and more prone to getting blocked, ending up in spam, etc.

Whatever you do, just don't become FarcasterMAX
