there's some confusion around farcaster names, so let me clear this up: - your username on farcaster is ALWAYS an ENS name - one kind of ens name is the farcaster name (v.farcaster.eth shown in client as @v) - the other kind of ens name is the L1 name (dwr.eth shown in client as @dwr.eth)

Farcaster names like (@v) are actually defined at the protocol level as (@v.farcaster.eth) using a standard ENS CCIP read. We truncate the names to (v) when shown in the app because its a bit tedious to type @v.farcaster.eth or show it in every user interface. Farcaster names are controlled by us. They're free so its easy to sign up, but we prevent squatting.

Dumb question perhaps.. but does that mean that sending money to the address dwr.farcaster.eth directs it to the primary eth wallet linked to the FC account the same way sending money to dwr.eth would link to an associated ETH address using ENS?

💯— I remember since very early on here we were able to bring our ENS names and it was fully compatible with Farcaster names. Not fair for you all to get heat right now— BOTH Farcaster and ENS teams are good for Ethereum and aligned. Excited to get more cooking between our two teams!

interesting, I did not know about the *.farcaster.eth part. Farcaster is mich more ENS aligned than I thought q: does this mean @git has (or can have) control over git.farcaster.eth? ie can I edit the records on the ENS name

https://names.degen.tips/name/v I think you should then get your degen.eth ENS subs and add support for ENS subdomains to be used as your farcaster username. degen.eth subs actually live on Degenchain and resolve via CCIP. The parent (degen.eth) is locked in a multisig and held by @jacek @degen and @coopahtroopa.eth
