Weekly rewards are meant to support creators who spend their time and energy creating engaging content on Farcaster. We've seen some accounts try to trick the algo by coordinating engagement, and redirect rewards towards low effort or uninteresting content. We're making changes to fix this. 1. The algo will reward diverse weekly engagement. If you get two likes from different people, they'll give you more points than two likes from the same person. 2. The algo may reduce or eliminate points from some accounts based on heuristics (engaging with spammy accounts, only with a particular account, in time patterns that suggest coordination etc) These changes will roll out on Tuesday. reasoning for change makes sense. one thing to note is if the incentive is to create content that elicits reaction from a broader circle of people instead of writing bangers for the same target audience, it incentivizes sensationalism i.e. things that will go viral and reach a mass audience because majority of people will find a connection to it and engage with it. this is why there was a time where fb newsfeed was just breaking news stories. y'all might already be anticipating it, just throwing out there

How do you decide these? I barley interact with accounts I don’t know or I follow but their messages don’t resonate therefore all of my likes are for the same people (mostly). Here’s my unsolicited advice: create cateogries of users. Examples can be 1)basic users (me), 2) original farcaster specific content creators, 3) coss-posters content creators. Make people self identify and have thede categories get a different % of rewards. The farcaster specif content creators get the highest %.

I do hope this helps with the same groups getting rewards while we all are working and building on this app constantly creating tho it has been really disharenting as of late and I keep getting the shadowbanned vibes.

Thanks for trying🌻 But for those of us with low engagement bc of the people gaming the system a lot of us only have an regularly engaging audience of like 15-20 people so might not help us at all unless this update disincentivizes gaming the system, which won’t bc there are bigger incentive systems like noice and tipn keeping that sorta action goin…

If I see that an account is considered spam, but I can also see that it's just an algorithm problem and not the user - are there consequences for me from communicating with him/her? It's not a question about rewards it's more about support. I don't care about my place on the leaderboard but I want to help them.
