Let's break down why Protocols are so much better than Platforms 💪
Platforms like Eventbrite or Luma rely on a centralized website and servers. If the platform shuts down, users will lose access to all events, user/customer data, and services. The front-end disappears --> so does the functionality.
Unlock Protocol is a set of smart contracts deployed on the blockchain of your choice (we currently have 14 EVM networks available, including @base, @arbitrum, @optimism, @polygonchain, @scrollzkp, and more).
Therefore, the logic and functions of your contracts live onchain. This means even if the Unlock website disappears, these contracts and their functions still remain accessible to you via the blockchain explorer and your deployer wallet.
On top of that, Unlock is open-source (everyone can build their own front-end and back-end to the protocol) and governed by its community of UP token holders.
We hope this helps clarify why, instead of Luma, it just makes sense to host your events onchain😉 0 reply
