Is there evidence of simultaneous slashes in backtest logs?
For the nascent AVS ecosystem, there is not yet a long enough history for empirical backtesting. However, evidence from other decentralized networks is instructive. As mentioned, the Ethereum Medalla testnet showed simultaneous, correlated liveness failures. In other PoS networks, bugs in specific client versions have led to mass slashing of all validators using that client. These historical precedents from analogous systems provide strong "pseudo-backtest" evidence that simultaneous slashes are not a theoretical risk but an empirical reality in complex software systems. They validate the models that predict high correlation under conditions of low client and infrastructure diversity.
