Layer-2 networks, including Optimistic Rollups and zkRollups, significantly reduce congestion on Ethereum’s mainnet by processing transactions off-chain and submitting aggregated data back to Ethereum. This offloads much of the computational and storage burden, lowering transaction fees and increasing the overall gas efficiency on Ethereum’s mainnet. By 2025, Layer-2 solutions will likely continue to reduce the cost and complexity of using Ethereum-based applications, enabling Ethereum to scale effectively. With increasing adoption, Layer-2 networks could help ensure that Ethereum remains cost-efficient for users, developers, and institutions, driving further usage of Ethereum for dApps, DeFi protocols, and NFTs. 0 reply
