We love to see this community growing. Also love seeing some friends join us from places we've met before, such as @khdpoet and @pgervois. A good moment to remind ourselves that the best way to succeed on Farcaster, is to meaningfully engage with others. This is a place of conversation, more than a place for broadcasting. The algorithm rewards taking part in conversations more than it rewards receiving likes. So, let's start a conversation, inspired by a cast shared by @ashwinikumar.eth here earlier: Is poetry dying due to the way people are using AI to read and write?

Thanks for the shoutout! I’m in the minority here but I think AI makes our most authentic conversations more important than ever—so it will prove to be great for poetry’s popularity in the long run ❤️

Really loving that positive outlook, there's certainly a part of authentic conversation contributing, but also for some here, using AI has been a gateway into poetry.

That’s a great point! Am hoping to have a panel at the next AWP about AI not being doomsday—care to elaborate more on how as I’m super interested!

For example last year, we ran some poetry prompts during "onpowrimo". I am quite sure some of the participants just posted AI-generated poems, but some actually stayed in the channel and some started occasionally writing. Still see it sometimes, as we do reward posting in poetry with tips irragularly, and that attracts low-effort posting. But there are always a few that respond well to engagement and stay and dive in. Maybe not always as writers, but as enjoyers of what is posted here.

That’s super neat, thanks! And not silly at all—sorry for my trad publishing bubble. AWP is the biggest US writing conference—pretty huge in scale.
