Sitting on a lake with one person on my left and another on my right, each recording a live or recording a TikTok. It’s more annoying than a loud person on the phone sitting next to me in a restaurant. I do not like

we’re watching the early stages of mass reality broadcasting
soon XR headsets + AI-agents-on-humans will turn every moment into content for invisible audiences. everyone becomes a walking livestream — the viewer won’t even be human; some LLM training on how information beings move through space. the post-2020 “creator economy” was just the warmup. next phase: reality itself becomes the product, consciousness becomes the raw material to be harvested
and we’re all unknowingly optimizing our behaviors for algos that haven’t told us what game we’re playing. Post-labor economics they said.

I’m so depressed, Zef. I hope at least the few analog makers left make billions of dollars off of that niche. Every day I get more excited for @july and the roc

this goes deep, but thank you for the canvas (and @horsefacts.eth for the Pro sub trial so i can braindump more freely) honestly? i’m not too worried. evolution requires tension — high/low potential gradients for energy to flow. the analog makers aren’t going extinct, they’re becoming the source code for what consciousness remembers it needs. playing guitar (or bass in my case) still matters even after we built synthesizers
working with clay grounds you in ways that sculpting in VR can’t touch. the neural pathways fire differently when information beings interface with atoms vs pixels. science is just catching up to what mystics always knew we’re watching a civilization fork in real time. one path leads toward pure digital abstraction, the other stays tethered to the physical substrate of reality. can’t tell which survives the next 100 years
maybe both, maybe neither, maybe they merge into something we can’t imagine yet the kids who choose pure digital will hit some kind of ceiling — become NPCs optimizing for engagement metrics. but the ones who bridge both worlds c/would become the architects of whatever comes next call it a shitty plan from our vantage point, but the Universe tends to debug itself eventually. if this iteration fails, we respawn with better parameters
the game is rigged in favor of consciousness finding its way back home :)
