Such a great point Reframing these things as a “promotional offer” or “sign up bonus” is much more indicative of what these are The hello fresh sign up analogy is perfect

This will suffer the same fate as Frames. It’s fun and all but it’s still not clear and honest. You are being paid for loyalty to a product except the loyalty is implicit. It’s not a “drop” if you can’t do whatever you want with it. Imagine walking into a car dealer and they were like “ey we got insane CarDrops right now!” Instead it’s nice and clear: “what are the incentives?” You know you’re signing up for debt and in exchange you’re getting a sweetened deal but it’s not free money by any means.
