it really depends on the communue they are located in. this one pictured is in the communue of Kolding - there you can reserve. since it is summer and we wanted to stay there over the weekend we booked a month in advance …

there is an unwritten rule though: if you don’t make it until 6pm your place it up for grabs!

do you have to reserve them in advance or is it first come, first serve?

these kind of shelters are used by the Danish and tourists alike

there are thousands of them across the country 

you can spend a max. of two nights in a row in one shelter 

most places also offer drinking water and a toilet 

also a must in Denmark the bonfire place
