Just read the most recent numlock - and thinking of roofs, would the opposite then be true? I live in Wisconsin and prefer my house be warmed by the sun.  I know there are a couple short months a year here where I put the air conditioning on, but the rest of the time I could use more natural heat.

It is definitely more expensive here to make air-conditioning, my electric bill in the summer is substantially greater than my gas bill in the winter.

oh yeah! this is totally a thing, darker roofs in higher latitudes. main advantage for temperate climates is it tends to be more expensive to make air conditioning than it is to make heat, so light roofs win out on net
