Yeah agree with the cultural gap part, I’m mostly integrated into the Japanese world cause I’m still a die hard otaku at heart.

I’m also doing this with Japanese but I weirdly have had a lot of interaction with Japan’s online culture. 

Ever since the NFT bull run at the tail end of the pandemic I’ve found myself with a bunch of Japanese followers/following many Japanese speakers. 

The cultural gap between us and China feels wider to me than the gap between us and Japan. There’s also been a lot more cultural exchange between the US and Japan than there has between the US and China. So I’m more focused on  China for those reasons .
