I once saw a partial recreation and retrospective on this Degenerate Art exhibit. It featured modernists alongside mentally ill artists from the Prinzhorn collection. The Nazis did it to deride the modernists as being no better than mental patients, but this ended up giving fame to what became art brut / outsider art.
