Of course! They're much more cost-effective for projects compared to dumping their DA onto L1.
For example, between January 1 and 10, 2025, the Base rollup spent around $502,895 to publish 11.4 GB of data on Ethereum.
Meanwhile, the Eclipse rollup spent just $12,306 to publish 115 GB of data over the same period.
But the strongest L2 projects won’t rely on external DA solutions. After all, that would undermine decentralization — plus, Vitalik refers to such L2s as validiums.
