And to expand on that thought, here's how I see this "Group Chat" primitive working not just for us, but for the entire creator economy.
The explosion of creator coins on platforms like @zora is incredible, but it's also created a massive need for real utility. I've seen builders like @kylepatrick.eth, @coopahtroopa.eth and many others talking about this exact problem: how do we give these new tokens a purpose beyond speculation?
This is where the infrastructure in Reply can come in.
The vision is simple and powerful: Any creator or KOL can spin up a token-gated group chat in just a few taps. They set the gate for example, "must hold 100k $KYLE coin" and that's it.
Inside the chat, messages are free. It functions just like a normal group chat, but with a built-in, automated "bouncer" that continuously checks if members hold the required token amount to remain in the group. No more manual invite links or complex bot setups.
This creates two distinct but complementary communication channels for every creator, all managed within one app:
• The Group Chat: A semi-public "inner circle" for their most dedicated supporters and token-holders.
• The Paid DM: A private, 1:1 line for high-stakes, specific questions that require personal attention.
It's about giving creators the tools to manage their community at different levels of intimacy and signal. This feels like a fundamental building block for the on-chain creator economy. 7 replies
