Oh ho, rumors that Japan is discussing removing the permanent visa status, and getting hard on immigration. Rumors, and HR departments asking people to share their exact status, etc. Highly qualified colleague (HB-1 like) whose 5-year visa renewal has become one year despite marriage and child. New government alright. But the mood is different this time.

Honestly, this is a better move for them to deal with illegal immigrants before the situation becomes as bad as it is in Europe.

Japan is less than 4% or so foreigners, so quite different duration. Also, not sure what you mean by “as bad as Europe”. I care about the topic, and all I can see is more mainstream media alarmism than confirmation from hard numbers (including official statistics).

Interestingly a second person on another network tells me the “situation is pretty bad in Europe”, from his standpoint in Spain. Once thing is sure and confirmed by stats: There is no sign of “great replacement”.

I feel you have to see the pov of People living in this regions to actually know what is going on. Because the mainstream media lies about these stats tbh

Yes, blatantly in surprisingly many occasions, or it just exposes the data that aligns with their lines. But then I do not understand your earlier claim that the situation is bad in Europe wrt immigration. That is exactly what mainstream media is pushing all the time. Reality I get from direct observation, family and childhood friends in a dozen European countries, as well as from 4 independent journalism organisations I support, show a different image.
