🧾 What the recent news is actually about
📌 India-EU Trade Deal Negotiations:
Multiple news outlets are reporting that India and the European Union are close to finalizing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). As part of that deal:
Import tariffs on certain European cars currently as high as 70%–110% could be cut down to ~40%.
This reduction would apply (initially) to a limited number of imported passenger cars with higher prices (e.g., >€15,000), and might go down further over time.
📌 So the “40%” figure isn’t a general new import duty for all imports in India, it’s a proposed tariff level for specific EU car imports under a trade deal — and that deal hasn’t formally been finalized yet. @base.base.eth
