Moving money these days is easy, but coordinating social consensus around raising funds is HARD: ✴️People will often only contribute if they know others will too ("I-will-if-you-will"), making it difficult to gain initial traction when few are willing to be the first mover. ✴️The uncertainty of not knowing whether a project will be fully funded makes people less likely to contribute in the first place, as there's a risk of losing their money to a failed or partially-funded campaign. ✴️When splitting one fixed cost amongst a group of people (like renting an Airbnb with friends), the cost per person depends on how many people opt in - but most people won't opt in to something until they know how much it costs, resulting in a chicken-and-egg pricing dynamic.

Tipping Point solves these problems by having campaign creators set certain requirements (like a minimum number of participants, and/or a certain amount of money to be raised), along with a deadline by which invitees can opt in and pledge funds. If the campaign hits its goals by the deadline, all pledges are immediately sent to the campaign creator. (Tipping Point collects a small fee from contributors if this happens; campaign creators never pay fees). If the campaign fails, no money moves and no fees are charged.

This eliminates the risk for all parties involved: If the campaign reaches its Tipping Point, the creator receives precisely the support needed to bring the idea to life. If not, no one has to spend any money (and the creator can just try again for free). No risk, all reward.
