my favorite way to spend fathers day is being a father

which today meant having a nice breakfast with my girls and then playing to make planes with paper and putting them all around the house and then cooking a nice lunch and eating it with my girls and then going out with mila to the recycling lot and then going to my grandmathers house and playing there with mila to have an ice cream store. just being with her. having fun doing… life. i love the complicity of just going around with her. meeting people. seeing how she reacts. being with her as she is shy. and slowly opens up. and starts singing a song alongside me. and then moving to the next place where we are going

its like having the adventures that i have always loved having on my own through the world, but now with a small subset of myself that has its own life. it’s like link on the legend of zelda ocarina of time, with that small wisp that was all the time flying around next to him. only that in this case it is a little human, and i get to experience her joy and curiosity and wonder and huge heart
