Edge City Fellow Anh wanted to build a robot at Edge Esmeralda. And she did. But her real breakthrough didn’t come from robotics. It was by connecting with others and realizing that being a generalist is an asset. A thoughtful recap on exploration at the edge: https://www.edgecity.live/blog/what-edge-esmeralda-taught-me-about-exploration

Biggest regret lf the year (so far): Not going to Edge Esmeralda. Feels like this has been an absolute must-attend event and an experience nearly impossible to get anywhere else Unfortunately for me, it was either this or Farcon *just normie problems - may have to make different choices next year*

What does digital democracy look like in practice? ☀️ Audrey Tang joined @Timour Kosters at Edge Esmeralda for a chat about Plurality, collective intelligence, and her experience as Digital Minister in Taiwan. The community gave us feedback that this session was a highlight of the month. We’re excited to see how Edge City can push forward Plurality ideas in the world. One thing I notice when I'm at Edge is that time dilates. We're in week 4 now, and when I see pictures of things that happened in week 1, they feel like they were many months ago. I think it's something to do with the number of novel experiences that we have every day here. Every day feels 'full' in the sense that there's always something new, and each new experience is like a signpost in time that the brain registers as a something that creates a memory. In contrast, when there are times when I'm just following my normal routine in default world, weeks can blend into each other and months can feel like they pass in days. Curious if you're having this too @ted ! @edgecity

appreciation post for @edgecity: to me, the most discouraging part of social media is how it erodes nuance and flattens complexities into zero-sum binaries and moral absolutism. you’re either good or evil, right or wrong, with us or against us. on my first night at Edge, i heard @timour and @audreyt speak about Plurality: “not about one truth winning out, but many truths coexisting and generating better questions.” the concept hit. i had just left LA in the midst of protests. since then, the Israel–Iran conflict erupted. hundreds of thousands marched for No King’s Day. the US Army celebrated its 250th birthday. all events that ignite immediate, polarized takes online. plurality offers us a different approach. it shifts from judgment (who's right?) to generative conversation (what's true for you? how can we find common ground to build better together?) if we want change or progress, we should start there more often. and remember: most humans want other humans to be safe and free from violence.

Yesterday at Edge Esmeralda, Marcus Shelby dropped in for a blues session - upright bass, local vocals, and classics like All of Me and Paper Moon. He’s also the director of Healdsburg Jazz, which kicks off this weekend.

It was such a pleasure to host Audrey Tang at Edge. We spoke about Plurality, digital democracy, and her experience as one of the youngest ministers in Taiwan's history. Based on the feedback after, this was an absolute highlight for everyone here. @audreyt @EdgeCity
