What does it mean to go beyond unhealthy addictions? For me, it started with ending the need to escape. I used to be a daily smoker and chased reality-altering experiences just to feel okay. Now, I’m first adjusting my vitamins to fill deficits and removing preservatives and overtly unhealthy foods from my diet. I don’t know if this will help, but I hope it will. Beyond diet, simply ending the addiction allowed me to leave the house more, and my activity consistently went up. Even when I feel weak, I have more control of my mind and desires than I did a few years ago. I no longer want to be the calmest person people know, nor someone trying to inject energy into every situation—I want to embody the passions that make life meaningful to me. That is my goal: to enable doing better what I find meaningful. That doesn’t mean pretending to not feel or believe things—one should strongly express belief with a willingness to change. It just means tuning life and intention to match dream state with reality.

Do you know why you sought out reality altering experiences? For me, it was a lack of pursuing something meaningful or mission driven Once you have a clear goal the desire to escape is a distraction and easier to quit
