I suppose it was necessary to read the whole thing. but this could have been a "you didn't think about resource curse in Africa, & impending social collapse" tweet. in fact, it effectively avoided anything to do with mundane economy or demographic shifting to handle scarcity of order or natural constraints.

what noo it was a super real take. Itβ€˜s not Curtisβ€˜s fault that yβ€˜all are delusional about techβ€˜s potential. Makes total sense to point out the most problematic part of the tech stack, the dumbass user

everyone believes their own intuition. sometimes, our intuition is sensational & bigger than life. what I read was a derision of other people, other places, & complete lack of sober appreciation for the arc of tech & civilization, as chaotic as it was, to our present capability. also, trotsky?

a crticism can be made, not this one though. I think the point about resource curse is unsettling & unstable, much like "golden ages", but this criticisn does mostly a "eww, yuck" number. it would be great to delve into the details of the transitions between order & chaos w/ tech as a catalyst. but it is inconsistent.
