A lot of people commenting on the Firefox profile pic change with tons of negativity. I think they all think that Firefox is going to ditch the fox in favour of a purple circle. I'd this is extremely unlikely.
Instead, I suspect this is just to get people's attention while subtley hinting at the redesign, they're about to launch.
