Several months back I posted about how one of my favourite features of Mona for Mastodon is the automatic translation that uses on-device language packs to localize all content to your language. It’s what motivated me to pay for Mona. Ice Cubes, my other favourite Mastodon client (which is open source) has translation with language packs but not automatic, meaning it adds some annoying friction and UX quirks. A few days ago, I posted about how Skeets, a Bluesky client, added the same excellent feature and implied, as part of a string of casts about improving Farcaster UX, that this feature should be implemented. Since then, both Farcaster and Quorum have implemented the feature. Rather than assume that they listened to me, because it almost never happens, I’m going to call it serendipity. Good UX matters. Thanks to Cassie and everyone else trying to make Farcaster a first class experience.
