The government's sole purpose is to max extract value from you. They have used public education and propaganda techniques to make you think that this is normal and you need to "pay your fair share".  They let you vote for one of two parties to make you think you have input in the process. You don't. Both parties will max extract value from you, they will just do it in slightly different ways. When you are done paying your taxes they will take more from you by devaluing the currency you have left. If you put your money in assets to protect yourself from the currency devaluation, they will force you to pay a ridiculous portion of your gains to them. Every once in a while they will throw you a bone, like not taxing your tips for instance, and expect you to be grateful that they stole a little less from you. Anytime they do something that benefits you, it's not because they want to help, it's because they want to keep you from revolting and continue to be good slave.
