Speculation is a side effect of ownership.
Ownership allows for markets to be created leading to speculation. Embrace it as a feature and not a bug.
The ability to own domains on the web created a multi-billion dollar industry of buying/selling domains. People would speculate on the value of specific domains, buy them and sit on them until the right buyer comes along - voice(dot)com sold for $30m. Domains go through boom and bust cycles and at times, wild fluctuations.
The same thing happens across other asset classes - real estate, equities, etc.
