Locked out of my MacBook as my brain somehow just forgot my password, after typing it for 3 years multiple times daily. I’m onto attempt #8. It now makes me wait 8 hours between tries. Apparently after too many tries - you are locked out forever.

Thousands of photos, videos, writing and also the raw files to my entire webcomic are stored on this comp. None of it is backed up nor in a cloud (… oops).

Seeds to 95% of my crypto on the comp were backed up by paper wallet, fortunately.

Does anyone know how many attempts a 2022 MacBook Pro (M2 chip) gives you to get an incorrect password? 

I also have no option of resetting the password unfortunately as I took it to the Apple Store and I definitely don’t have the key to encryption mode (… oops again).

I have a general idea of what the password should be, so will be writing a long list of variations of it - but the number of tries I get is key information.

Any advice anyone might have is appreciated. 🙏
